Peace is the interaction between people
that plant the seed of understanding and compassion.
In a world of banks and commercial control
we must ask ourselves, do we want this roll.
Peace is more than a hippie's sign in rainbow colors.
It is the flow of positive energy that connects
all living things on this earth.
Peace is not only the absence of violence but the addition
of harmony, caring, and understanding of all people
no matter their race, gender, or religion.
Peace is when the mind is still, internal voices at rest.
Sometimes when a sliver of peace shines through like the waking moon
- I hang on.
Peace is the warm wind, view from a mountain or real deal love
- and some word us humans forgot the meaning of.
Peace won't sweep away life as we know it like a tsunami,
leaving all to be rebuilt anew, but rather seep into the war
parched earth like a cool spring causing life to be born again.
This is the passion of Peace...
Crave and pursue Peace...
There is Power in Peace.

Holiday wishes from the students in the PSJ 101 class
To all,
In our last class today (Introduction to Peace Studies), I asked the students to do a free write of what peace means to them. They then took one or two lines that they especially liked. We copied them on the board and organized our collective work into the attached poem.
The students could not have been more different, pursuing different careers and futures, yet we were able to come together and create.
This poem and it's process captures my sentiments for this season and my hopes for the future.
Peace, Abbie
